Sometimes New Year's Eve seems a bit trivial to me, but sometimes I find it fun and cozy. Yesterday Eva, Christine and I had a cozy evening with good food, wine, music and laughs. Before we knew it, 2012 was only a few minutes away and it was time to celebrate with pink champagne and enjoy the fireworks.

This time last year Cph was covered in snow. And I loved it. But now it's not even cold, it's mostly just rainy and windy.
I guess you can call me a snow enthusiast, and after watching The Art of Flight today I have severe cravings. It's a documentary film about extreme snowboarders and their adventures, and it's the kind of film that makes you long for snowy mountains. It makes you want to quit your job and studies and just go skiing all year long. It makes you dream even more than you've done before.

This week has been crazy. I usually don't go out this much, but...

Monday night I went to see sweet Jens Lekman. He sang sweet songs about Göteborg and Kirsten Dunst.

Tuesday night I got to celebrate Spotify at that good old venue I used to work at. Concerts, arcade games and free beers... on a Tuesday...!

Wednesday morning I might have skipped a bit of class, and in the evening Christian Kjellvander played at a cozy bar, so of course I went there.

Thursday night a new Monki store opened. More free beers, champagne, cake and the usual Cph hipster crowd.

After hanging out at the store for a while, we felt we had seen enough and went to enjoy some great blues, as Daniel Norgren was in town.

Good thing I don't have work or school today.
Sorry for the crappy photos. I managed to leave my camera at home every single day this week. Big applause for me.

I managed to record a bit of video in every city we visited on the great Scandinavian trip. Whenever Cph gets a little too grey and cold, I will watch this and get that special northern feeling of summer, mountains, archipelago, wooden houses and räkmackor.

Sist men inte minst: Finaste Göteborg

Our last stop on the great Scandinavian trip was sweet, sweet Göteborg.

We decided to go to Feskekörkan, as we had only seen it from the outside. I wish I could live right next to that place and go there for Swedish shrimps every day.

Afterwards we went to Saluhallen for lunch. Mmm.

When it was time for Stay Out West, we went to Storan and waited in line for hours for Okkervil River. But when we were about three meters from the entrance, they told us there was no more room inside. Such a big disappointment. We decided to stay and not give up, and finally we manged to get in and see them play one last song. And then it was time for Destroyer...

Then came Friday and sunshine, and after a ride on a tram filled with perfectly cool Swedes, we arrived here...

Bästa Way Out West! We saw The Avett Brothers, Thåström, Prince, Pulp, Säkert! and so many other great artists.

Every once in a while we took a break under the trees and drank Norrlands.

Saturday night we left the festival area early in order to make it to Domkyrkan and Me & My Army. We were joined by drunken Swedes and had silly talks about Thåström, Håkan and other good things.

On the last day of our long and lovely trip, we decided to go to Långedrag for one last räkmacka.

We have been back in Cph for a while now and it feels nice, but I must admit that I really miss Scandinavian summer and long train rides. It was such a perfect trip.

Oslo

We were only in Oslo for two very short days, but we had great fun.
We walked through parks...

And spent some time by the harbor.

We enjoyed the company of these three cuties and went to a silly restaurant with spicy food and indoor thunderstorms.

Somehow we ended up crashing an Øya Festival pre-party, and the night turned into a bit of a pubcrawl, where we met crazy Norwegians and funny Swedes and New Zealanders (is that even a word?).

Definitely have to go back and visit again soon.

Bergen was not sunny and warm... But we did not really expect it to be. I actually think I would have been a little disappointed if we did not get to experience real Bergen rain.

We decided to check out the view from one of the mountains...

Bergen is one of the cutest places I have ever been. I honestly felt like moving into about 500 of the houses we passed.

We went to see a stave church... in the rain.

I really want to return to Bergen, because there is still so much to see.

But after a few days we had to take the train to Oslo.

Trondheim

Once again we reached a warm and sunny destination. The trip from Östersund to Trondheim was incredible.
After checking in to the hotel, we walked to Nidarosdomen.

Unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos inside, but I can tell you that it felt a little bit like Rivendell in Lord Of The Rings... Except for all the tourists of course.

Afterwards we walked to the fish market and ate shrimps.

We watched sunsets and went sailing...

As mentioned earlier, I spotted about 50 houses in Östersund that I wanted to live in. This time it was more like 200...

After four days it was time for a 15-hour train ride to Bergen. So beautiful!

Östersund och finaste Storsjön

Östersund is a lovely city located right by a huge lake.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon just in time for Storsjöyran and our favourite Swede...

We managed to see a little bit of Säkert! as well. Och fina Henrik Berggren och gamla BD-låtar.

We drank Norrlands Guld, as we were in, well... Norrland. As you can see, I was quite happy with that.

We spent a lot of time hanging around the shore and just looking at that pretty lake and all the boats.

I spotted just about fifty houses that I wanted to live in. They were all made of wood and so perfectly cozy with balconies, porches and lovely yards.

Inlandsbanan came by and I couldn't help but dream about another great tågluff some day.

We took a bus to Frösön and got lost.

But who cares when the streets have names like this and the sun manages to keep shining even though a scary thunder storm tries to approach...

After a few days of perfect Summer relaxation, we boarded a train towards Trondheim.

We passed this station but didn't really feel like getting off the train...

Sundsvall: Sailing and late sunsets

We had a great view from our hotel in Sundsvall. Pretty houses, mountains and beatiful sunsets...

We went sailing for hours and ate tons of shrimp and salmon.

Walked around the town and did a bit of shopping. At some point I seemed to have shrunk...

Then it was time to jump on the next train - this time terminating Östersund and Håkan! We were quite excited... but could not help taking a little nap on the train.

Stockholm

After four days in Helsinki we took a plane to beautiful Stockholm and more sunshine.

We had both been to Stockholm before, so we had decided to only stay for two days this time in order to have more time for the rest of Scandinavia.
We went to Saluhallen for lunch...

And relaxed in Haga Parken.

In the evening we had dinner with Jacob, who has been living in Stockholm for a while because he got a really cool internship. Unfortunately my camera decided to stay at the hotel and take a break that day.
I love Stockholm. It's such a beautiful city with the best views. The only thing missing this time was the cute couple, who unfortunately did not get back from vacation until a few days after we left.

Next stop: Sundsvall.

First stop: Helsinki

The first of our eight stops on the great Scandinavian trip was Helsinki, Finland. It was our first visit to this lovely, lovely city. But definitely not our last one.
We went sailing for a couple of hours as it was perfect sunshine. It actually kind of felt like we had traveled south.

Helsinki is such a beautiful city. It feels a little bit like a mixture of Göteborg and Oslo... And Russia. The architecture is amazing.

We lived right by the harbor and spent quite a lot of time looking at ships and boats. One of them was owned by a man selling potatoes.

We rode green trams and walked all over the city.

On a Saturday night we went to a bar that had swings instead of bar stools, and we met kind and crazy Finns and drank from a bottle of violence.

When we were too lazy to walk around the city, we relaxed on the rocks and watched boats and seaguls.

And Finnish sailors!

I cannot wait to go back to this city someday.

The time has finally come. Eva and I are leaving for Helsinki tomorrow, and then we will continue our journey to Stockholm, Sundsvall, Östersund, Trondheim, Bergen, Oslo and finally Göteborg. Hopefully I will be able to blog a bit on the go, but who knows...

We have been hanging around on the beach and playing volley ball...

Last night I got back after three amazing days in Oslo. I went there with my sweet girls Cecilia and Jeanette to celebrate our friend Ky getting married to his dream girl.

When we arrived it was grey and rainy, but we walked around the city any way and did a bit of shopping. We took a well-deserved rest at Aker Brygge.

In the evening we went to the cutest 50s bar and had beers with the boys. We were all extremely excited about the next day.

I definitely have to go to that bar again when Eva and I get to Oslo. I would have loved to stay there and listen to old songs all night, but we had to go back to the hotel to get some sleep before the big day.

We got up early Saturday morning to get dressed up and go to the church in perfect sunshine.

It was the most beautiful wedding and the most beautiful bride.

And the craziest party...

We ate huge amounts of cake and danced all night till our feet hurt. It was such a perfect and unforgetable night.

When we checked out of the hotel Sunday morning we felt exhausted, so we decided to take the tram to Vigelandsparken and relax in the sunshine before going back home.

Eva and I are trying to plan our summer trip to Finland, Sweden and Norway, and we could really use some great tips about where to go and what to see in Helsinki, Stockholm, Sundsvall, Östersund, Trondheim, Bergen, Oslo, and Göteborg. Of course we have been to both Stockholm and Göteborg several times, but maybe you know some great spots that we have missed. The other places are completely new to us, so PLEASE tell me if you know anything about any of these eight cities in lovely Scandinavia. I would really appreciate it.

I finally handed in my three exam papers yesterday. With a terrible pain in my wrist from typing so much. Ouch.
So tonight I have been relaxing. I went to see my dad's band play their first concert - och det var hur cool som helst. And for the past two hours I have done nothing but sit on the couch and watch TV shows. Känns så himla skönt.

I have spent the past 24 hours with my sweet girls enjoying Spring time as much as possible. We went shopping, drank cider in the sunshine, got burgers from the cutest restaurant in Cph, had blueberry cocktails and went dancing.
Tomorrow I'll go back to school after the perfect Easter break and then it will be nothing but hard work for the next couple of months. Sigh. I want to have more of these perfect Spring nights and drink beer and have crazy conversations.
